Apple has updated its most affordable iPhone with the release of the iPhone 17e which now includes features like MagSafe, an advanced camera system and more storage.
Priced from $999, the iPhone 17e will go on sale on March 1.
The iPhone 17e has a notch at the top of the 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display protected by Ceramic Shield 2 and a single 48MP Fusion camera.
The device is powered by the A19 chip for improved performance and full access to Apple Intelligence.
iPhone 17e has twice the entry level storage at 256GB and is the same price as last year’s 128GB iPhone 16e. This year there are only two storage variants – 256GB ($999) and 512GB ($1,399).
Design-wise, the iPhone 17e appears to be identical to the iPhone 16e. It is made from aerospace grade aluminium and has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
The Super Retina XDR display offers up to 1,200 nits peak HDR brightness so it can be easily viewable even in bright surroundings.
The A19 chip includes advanced 3-nanometer technology with a 6-core CPU and a 4-core GPU with Neural Accelerators.
Also under the hood of the iPhone 17e is the latest generation cellular modem that’s up to twice as fast as the iPhone 16e.
The new iPhone 17e has also incorporated MagSafe which is Qi2 compatible and offers up to 15W of wireless charging compared to the 7.5W the iPhone 16e offered.
On the camera side, the iPhone 17e has a single lens 48MP Fusion camera which can capture 24MP and 48MP images and 4K video 60fps with Dolby Vision.
The iPhone 17e is available for pre-order now and goes on sale on March 11.
It will be available in black, white and soft pink and is priced at $999 (256) and $1,399 (512GB).
