Windows 10 is available today as a free upgrade across 190 countries and Microsoft says it’s the best operating system it has ever produced thanks to the number of new useful features onboard.
Users running Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 will be able to upgrade for free to Windows 10.
Windows 10 will also be preloaded on new computers, Windows tablets and Windows smartphones.
The new operating system will work seamlessly across all Windows devices.
Here are the main new features:
Windows 10 Continuum is a new enhancement that helps the software detect whether your device has inputs like a mouse, keyboard and touchscreen or even a combination of all three.
The Start button is back. And so is the taskbar.
These favourite features add familiarity to users of the previous operating systems.
Gone is the Metro home screen covered in tiles and in its place the traditional desktop.
One click of the Start button will give users access to their live tiles as well as a shortcut to their applications and documents.
We can call this the browser formerly known as Internet Explorer.
The aging browser has been completely refreshed into a faster and more intuitive tool.
Apart from browsing websites, Edge now also allows users to even mark up and make notes on web pages and share them.
Sometimes you need to be working on more than one window on your desktop at a time.
Windows 10 makes it possible to Snap up to four applications to the desktop so they are not only easy to view but you can cut and paste and work from one to the others.
This is the Windows 10 built-in digital assistant that’s more than just a talking search engine.
Users can still ask her for the capital of Brazil but she can also find the photos you took in Thailand and open up the documents you worked on yesterday.
Eventually Cortana will be available across the entire range of Windows 10 devices.
Picture this scenario: you want to play your Xbox but there’s already someone watching TV where the console is located.
With Windows 10 you can still play by streaming the Xbox to a Windows 10 device anywhere on your network.
And you can still also use the Xbox controller, connect it to the Windows 10 computer with a USB cable and you’re playing your Xbox game from the other room.
