The award-winning device is just 18mm thick and weighs in at just 1.36kg. It combines ergonomic design and durability into a small and easily portable unit.
Under the hood the XPS 13 also has it where it counts with an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor, 128GB solid-state drive (SSD), 4GB RAM and fast boot up and resume for always-on connectivity.
On the screen is Corning Gorilla Glass for added protection plus a carbon fibre base which makes it strong without the added bulk and weight.
Despite the device’s smaller size there is still a full size keyboard which is also backlit so it can be used anywhere and in any lighting conditions – including the darkened cabin of an aircraft.
Running Windows 7 Home Premium, the Dell XPS 13 also packs a good-sized glass touchpad with multi-gesture support, an Intel HD 3000 video graphics processor and a built-in battery that provides up to eight hours of power.
The XPS 13 has wi-fi and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity plus a USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports alongside a mini DisplayPort and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
There’s a 1.3 megapixel webcam with dual array microphones as well as high definition audio with MaxxAudio 4.
For those thinking of deploying the XPS 13 in a business there’s also access to Dell ProSupport and Dell Configuration services.
The XPS 13 starts at $1199 for the configuration with an Intel Core i5 processor, 128GB SSD, 4GB and is available now from www.Dell.com.au or at Dell Experience Centres at Bondi Junction and Parramatta.
The version of the XPS 13 with an Intel Core i7 processor, 128GB SSD and 4GB RAM will be available from March 14 at JB Hi-Fi stores for $1499.
