Alcatel has used the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas to provide a sneak peek at its range of quality affordable smartphones which will be released in 2018.
Tech Guide was given a preview and hands-on look at the devices which will all boast all-screen designs with 18:9 displays.
The three Alcatel ranges – the 5 Series, 3 Series and 1 Series – continue the company’s mission to deliver flagship features in mid and entry level price points.
Alcatel will officially announce the complete specifications, screen sizes and camera quality at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in early March.
“As the global smartphone market continues to evolve, we come into a new year recognising the need to stabilise and transform our Alcatel smartphone portfolio to better serve our customers and meet the opportunities ahead,” said Christian Gatti, Global President Alcatel Business Division and Executive Vice President TCL Communication.
“By modernising our smartphone designs and being one of the first global manufacturers to offer 18:9 displays across the majority of our line-up, we’re able to refocus our efforts at democratising flagship style features and making these experiences accessible to almost any consumer worldwide.”
Alcatel will take advantage of its parent company TCL’s panel manufacturing to efficiently supply FullView 18:9 displays to ensure cost savings and faster delivery times.
TCL is actually the third largest panel manufacturer in the world and now the number two TV brand behind Samsung in the US
The Alcatel 2018 smartphones will be arranged in three pricing tiers – the 5 Series, 3 Series and 1 Series.
ALCATEL 5 SERIES
This is Alcatel’s premium model which is likely to include dual front-facing cameras, Face ID, a fingerprint reader and a 5.7-inch screen.
And the cost will be significantly lower than the competitors’ flagship smartphones.
ALCATEL 3 SERIES
The Alcatel 3 Series has a larger 6-inch high resolution screen and dual-lens rear camera with a slick design.
ALCATEL 1 SERIES
The 1 Series is the most affordable phone in the Alcatel line-up but it’s still packed with features like a fingerprint reader, a quality 18:9 display and impressive unibody design.
Pricing and availability of these new Alcatel smartphones will be announced after Mobile World Congress in March.
