Solar storage batteries are expected to enjoy a projected growth of up to 300 per cent following the news a battery manufacturing plant will be built in South Australia and a residential battery power rebate will also kick off in that state.
German battery maker Sonnen will make South Australia the location for its new manufacturing plant which is expected to create hundreds of jobs and cement Australia as a country that is embracing the move to solar energy.
Sonnen is the world’s leading battery manufacturer with more than 35,000 installed worldwide.
This is sure to boost battery production and availability to customers instead of waiting for overseas imports.
The company has already set up shop here in Australia through exclusive distributor Natural Solar.
Customers can now join SonnenFlat – a flat rate electricity plan that has monthly plans priced at $30, $40 and $50 for their energy allocation after installing solar panels and a Sonnen battery.
With SonnenFlat, customers receive their power through their own panels and share and receive battery power from other Sonnen battery owners.
Chris Williams, CEO and founder of Natural Solar says customers are already driven by the attractive pricing model, independence from the grid and stability that a solar and battery solution can provide.
“This rebate will mean that South Australian residents, who crave this reliability the most, will no longer need to pay any money upfront to have their solar and battery solution installed and will reap the benefits of savings from day one,” Williams said.
Customers in South Australia can spend up to $10,000 with no interest charged for the first seven years to purchase solar panels and solar batteries.
