Tech Guide received the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 for our review. It is also available in a 16-inch version.
This is Apple’s annual upgrade of the MacBook Pro with its latest silicon. In this case the M6 which includes an advanced 12-core CPU with the world’s fastest CPU core and a 12-core GPU that offers up to 30 per cent faster graphics and up to 25 per cent faster AI workloads than the M5.
That’s a remarkable upgrade from last year’s device.
Customers tend to hold onto laptops for a lot longer than they do their smartphones so it could be several years between upgrades.
With that in mind you can imagine the improvement a customer will see with the MacBook Pro with M6 if they’re upgrading even from the M4 and other earlier laptops.
Apple released the MacBook Pro with M1 back in 2020 and that’s probably served users well since then.
So for those customers, upgrading to the MacBook Pro with M6 would be an absolute game changer.
For example, on-device AI on the new MacBook Pro with M6 is 13 times faster than on the M1.
Design-wise the MacBook Pro with M6 is identical to the previous model.
This is a move we applaud because the current design works.
The MacBook Pro is not that heavy (1.55kg) or too thick (1.55cm) and it’s still very easily portable.
It has a stunning 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display with 1,600 nits of peak HDR brightness and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.
Everything you view on the screen, including your videos and photos, looks amazing.
Same thing with the applications you’re working on or the content you’re creating.
You will never tire of the quality of this amazing display.
But one difference there is from last year’s model is the price.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 started, when it was released in 2025, at $2,499.
