Apple has finally delivered on its promise with the release of Siri AI at the 2026 Worldwide Developers Conference along with improved and more personalised Apple Intelligence across Apple’s entire ecosystem.
These initial promises were made at the 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference and Apple has not only made good on what was offered then but it also pushed the bar even higher.
Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering Craig Federighi defended Apple’s delay in delivering these intelligent features.
“AI is incredibly powerful technology with the potential to shape society in profound ways and with proper care unlock meaningful benefits for people everywhere, still some appear to be racing forward, seemingly pursuing AI for the sake of AI without clear regard for the people, all of us that it is ultimately meant to serve,” Federighi said during the WWDC 2026 keynote.
“Our mission has always been to turn the potential of advanced technology into helpful and intuitive products for everyone.”
SIRI AI
Apple today introduced a brand new version of Siri, powered by Apple Intelligence, to make it more conversational and capable, with the ability to assist users through personal context understanding, a broader world knowledge, and on-screen awareness.
Siri AI now has a dedicated app to allow users to look back at conversations across their entire range of Apple products.
Powered by Apple Intelligence, Siri AI has been reimagined to draw on personal context understanding and help customers have relevant information at their fingertips while they are messaging, emailing and looking at photos.
This personal context also works across third-party apps which developers can integrate with Spotlight.
Siri AI has more system-wide capabilities to get things done across apps like drafting an email from scratch and editing and sharing multiple photos.
Siri AI also has on-screen awareness so users can ask questions related to what’s on their screen.
It also has broad world knowledge to get the latest information from the web on virtually any topic and receive information on even the most detailed question.
And users can tap into Siri AI across the entire range of Apple products whether they are on their iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple Watch.
Siri now offers a range of new and expressive voices.
Another improvement is greater accuracy with system-wide dictation.
It can capture what users say as polished text with greater precision, automatic handling of capitalization, punctuation, and formatting as they are speaking.
Siri now has greater image understanding and multi-modal capabilities so users can ask more questions about visual content.
These capabilities are integrated right into the camera app with a new Siri mode, which allows users to act and get information based on what they can see.
One new capability from Siri mode in camera includes the ability to get nutritional insights about a plate of food.
Writing tools have also been polished and Siri can reflect how users usually communicate with each individual recipient, right down to the punctuation and tone they typically use.
Siri will now also automatically proofread what users are typing across the entire system, including within most third-party apps.
APPLE INTELLIGENCE
The next generation of Apple Intelligence integrates the latest Apple Foundation Models across Apple’s platforms and offers a unique protection for user privacy.
Apps are now smarter and more useful with even more powerful editing capabilities.
Apple Intelligence powers the new Siri AI.
Apple Intelligence has enhanced the Photos app and allows users to make remarkable edits while still respecting the craft of photography.

Photos that have been adjusted with Apple Intelligence will automatically include a hidden watermark to identify that it has been edited with AI.
A powerful new feature is Spatial Reframing, which allows users to change and improve the composition of a photo after it’s been taken.
Spatial Reframing utilises Apple’s deep understanding of spatial models, first seen with the Apple Vision Pro, to allow users to touch and drag a photo and preview in real time how they can change the perspective as if they had re-positioned the camera when they took the photo.
Users can also expand images with the Extend tool to give subjects more space around them.
Apple Intelligence will also improve the Safari experience by simplifying multi-tab browsing by automatically sorting them into relevant topics.
Another new Safari feature is Notify Me, which allows users to receive notifications when a specific web page changes.
Apple already has a solid passwords app, which also notifies users if their passwords are weak or compromised.
With Apple Intelligence, users can automatically fix and update these passwords.
Apple Intelligence and Safari agentically act on your behalf and navigate through sites to sign in and upgrade your accounts with stronger passwords.
Image Playground has also had a massive improvement with the ability to now create high-quality photo-realistic images and other styles.
Generated images will automatically include a hidden SynthID watermark to identify that they have been generated using AI.
Apple Intelligence will also make communication even easier and surface relevant information when needed.
For example if someone asks for photos the Messages app will locate the right ones.
When someone calls a business, call context will surface relevant information like a confirmation code or reservation number directly within the phone app.
If a caller rings an airline to change a flight, the iPhone app will locate their confirmation code in mail.
Call context will also provide helpful information that may be needed during the call.
Shortcuts have always been an excellent way to create automations but it can be hard to complete.
Now users can simply describe a shortcut to swing Apple intelligence into action to make appropriate adjustments.
