Roborock always save their major announcements for the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and this year was no exception.
They created a fair amount of buzz around the show with the launch of the new Saros Rover robot vacuum.
Outwardly, the Saros Rover looks like most other robot vacuums but there is one huge difference.
The Saros Rover has legs.
And it can use those legs to climb stairs and navigate uneven surfaces and access parts of your home the robot vacuum would never dare to venture.
We saw the demonstration on the Roborock stand at CES 2026 and the Saros Rover climbed a set of stairs, stopping to clean each of those stairs as well, before reaching the top and then rolling down a ramp back to the bottom and folding down the legs to get back to regular robot vacuum mode.
Last year at CES, Roborock had a similarly spectacular announcement with their robot vacuum with an extendable arm that could pick up an remove any light obstacles in its path.
That product has gone on to become a huge seller in Australia.
The Saros Rover would be ideal for those customers who have multi-storey homes and homes with split levels and other difficult areas that a regular robot vacuum would find difficult to navigate.
The wheel legs do take up some space on either side of the unit which means it has a smaller area to include things like mops, brushes, water tanks and dustbins.
Whether that means these features have been compromised in any way is yet to be seen.
But one thing’s for sure it was entertaining just to watch it navigating the stairs and rolling back down again on its extended legs.
We look forward to seeing Roborock Saros Rover in Australia later this year and putting it through its paces.
