Tech Guide has taken a closer hands-on look at the new Anker MindBase AI-powered hub at the IFA show in Berlin and in particular its new that can unite your connected devices and add a layer of intelligence like never before.
To explain MindBase simply it is like the AI traffic cop of the house that can keep an eye on all the connected devices, work out ways they can work together more efficiently and how they can improve the household’s efficiency, security and storage.
The onboard EasyOmni Link connects Anker devices but can also link Matter compatible devices like lights, sensors, appliances and cameras,
It will be compatible with Apple’s HomeKit and will also connect through Amazon Alexa and Google Home.
MindBase will also run its own agents like TrueSmart to bring local intelligence to devices in different areas of the home.
It will connect and support up to 16 wired cameras, four wireless cameras and more than 30 sensors that can detect movement and falls.
On the security side MindBase can also connect with a new Smart Security Shield which uses radar within a 30m perimeter of your home.
It will be able to identify members of the household via an app on their smartphone.
But if a stranger approaches your home MindBase won’t simply send you a notification it will track them with a spotlight from the connected eufy Tracklight Cam 51, train its 4K telephoto camera on the person and even respond to them.
And it will let the homeowner know what it’s doing as well.
It will work with Anker’s new cameras including a window camera that can be stuck on the inside of a window and offer a camera feed of what it sees outside the window.
MindBase is built like a NAS (network attached drive) with room for 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard drives.
The device can handle up to 48TB of local storage which can be utilised to store security footage and create a central repository of family photos and videos.
But the MindBase’s own AI layer will sit across that storage.
It will be able to analyse security footage and find whatever you ask for – let me now when a stranger walked on the property, find all the videos of a visitor wearing a red shirt.
This is a feature available to subscription paying customers with security cameras.
The Anker eufy cameras are well known for being subscription free with local storage of footage.
Now that footage will pass through the MindBase.
The same thing will apply for stored content like photos and videos. You might ask for the pictures from your recent Italian holiday to be displayed on the TV in the lounge room.
Another example of co-operation would be MindBase deploying the robot vacuum to begin its clean when no one is home, when no one is home or when you’re asleep.
It will become one less thing you need to think about.
The Anker MindBase is expected to go on sale in early 2027.
