Epson releases new home theatre projector range with 4K enhancement

Epson has unveiled a new range of home theatre projectors with 4K enhancement technology that will allow home theatre enthusiasts to enjoy their movies with added picture quality.

The new projectors in the Epson line-up – EH-TW8300, EH-TW9300, EH-TW9300W – can all display native 4K content but without the 4K projector price tag.

Native 4K projectors capable of displaying ultra high definition resolution of 3840 x 2160 are priced at well over $10,000.

But Epson has taken a different approach with 4K enhancement which provides near UHD quality but without the added pixels.

It works by diagonally shifting each pixel half a length so that they can technically be in two places at once to double the resolution and exceed full high definition image quality.

The projectors are also all HDR (high dynamic range) compatible and can play the latest 4K UHD Blu-ray discs and also upscale full HD content.

The new Epson projectors have impressive clarity with deep blacks and a high contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1 and a 16-piece glass lens.

Colours are warm and natural thanks to the Epson 3LCD panels that produce equally high white and colour light output of 2,500 lumens.

Installing the projector is easy and precise with the motorized optics including a powered 2.1x optical zoom and powered focus and vertical and horizontal lens shift.

The EH-TW9300W (the W stands for wireless) allows viewers to stream content to the projector from a smartphone, games console or Blu-ray player.

The onboard WiHD transmitter can also handle 4K quality content wirelessly as well.

Epson has also released a family of mid-range full HD home theatre projectors – the EH-TW6700, EH-TW6700W and the EH-TW6800 as well.

Lamp life is listed by Epson at up to seven years if you watched a movie a day.

The Epson projectors will be available in September and pricing is below:

EH-TW9300W $4,999 inc. GST

EH-TW9300 $4,799 inc. GST

EH-TW8300 $4,499 inc. GST

EH-TW6800 $3,199 inc. GST

EH-TW6700W $2,949 inc. GST

EH-TW6700 $2,649 inc. GST
