We’ve seen a few smartphones cases that combine other features like batteries, wallets and even bottle openers but the Yellow Jacket case includes a stun gun.
Designed for the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5S, the Yellow Jacket looks like a regular case but with one big difference.
It has a detachable taser pack with its own battery that can deliver a stunning 950,000-volt charge that will incapacitate an attacker.
The device, which was on display at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, has ambidextrous triggers on the left and right side to allow the user to engage their personal protection from any hand.
Also onboard is a dual safety mechanism – a swivelling electrode cap to cover the contacts and a safety switch to prevent accidental discharging.
There are also five LED power lights on the Yellow Stone case indicates the battery level of the stun gun and the phone.
The extra battery on the detachable pack can even be used to recharge the iPhone if you’re low on charge without compromising the taser.
“Yellow Jacket has continued commitment to personal protection,” said Sean Simone, Yellow Jacket CEO.
“By improving the case we are adding peace of mind for smartphone owners to make it easy and effective for anyone to use in unsettling situations.
“In addition to the increased safety, the Yellow Jacket for iPhone 5/5S has increased voltage and amperage, giving the case’s stun gun more power.
“These improvements make Yellow Jacket the ideal smartphone case to carry at all times, in all situations.”
The Yellow Jacket case is priced at $US149.
It should be noted tasers and stun guns are illegal to own or import into Australia.
