Vividwireless offers value home internet connectivity without any cables

Don’t want ADSL? Can’t access cable on your area? But don’t worry – there is another way to connect your home to the internet wirelessly with Vividwireless using a 4G LTE network purpose built for data.

Vividwireless – formerly called Unwired and bought out by Optus in 2012 – is available in metropolitan areas of Australians capital cities including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

This type of service is activated in minutes simply by connecting a wireless modem to a power point in your home.

This means customers will have access to the internet if they don’t have a phone line (which is how ADSL services are delivered) or access to cable services.

The Vividwireless modem, which is about the size of a paperback book, links to the company’s 2300Mhz 4G LTE network – a combination of its own infrastructure and the Optus network.

vividwireless1

It has four Ethernet ports to connect devices with a cable and one USB port to make your printer accessible to your home network.

There is a SIM card onboard that can only be used with the Vividwireless gateway to link the device to the network.

It can then create a wireless network so you can connect smartphones, tablets, computers, gaming consoles and smart TVs in your home to the internet.

It’s an easy service to kick off unlike other home internet plans that require waiting around for people to come to your home and install the service and set up your modem.

Users can simply order the modem online and choose their plan.

If you choose to start a 24-month term online, then you’ll get the modem free.

vividwireless3

Customers can also head into Harvey Norman or The Good Guys and purchase the modem over the counter for $199 and choose their plan the first time you connect.

Plans start at $29 for 10GB data per month and move up to $59 for 40GB a month or $89 for unlimited data.

Customers who exceed their data allowance will not be charged excess fees but will have their service throttled back to 64kbps.

Before anyone commits to the service, which can be accessed month to month or on a two-year plan, they can check the coverage in their area at www.vividwireless.com.au/coverage.

And customers also have 14 days to test the service in their home. If it doesn’t meet their needs they will receive a complete refund within this period.

Reception can vary from area to area which is why the 14-day money back guarantee if you have signal or coverage issues.

The best areas to use Vividwireless are in metropolitan areas in capital cities but there are pockets where the service is either too slow to be of value or not available at all.

It’s a good idea to check your coverage on the Vividwireless website first before deciding on the service.

Vividwireless will give you your second month free if you sign up on a month-to-month plan and if you refer a friend you can also be rewarded with a month of free data for both you and your friend.

And being a wireless service you can also take Vividwireless with you if you move house or even if you want to head to the café.

The modem is larger than a regular 4G dongle and needs to be plugged in but it is possible to take in anywhere with you so you can use your Vividwireless data instead instead of your phone’s data.

Vividwireless is FANTASTIC for us … use referal code 67165 for a free month!

We recently moved house and needed a new ISP, I had a NakedDSL plan with a well know provider for several years but was increasingly frustrated with its performance or lack thereof. Streaming anything was a constant buffering nightmare and I could prepare the evening repast whilst downloading anything of size so I bit the bullet and cancelled my subscription with them and went in search of fresh pastures.

I considered NakedDSL with a local Adelaide provider, talk with cable suppliers, approached various other ADSL providers and looked at several wireless providers, all of whom for different reasons were not what I wanted. That is to say I DID NOT want a lock in contract or expensive setup/installation costs which were quoted as high as $600 for infrastructure and I also didn’t wish to wait weeks for installation.

At this time I had a look at Vividwireless and in particular read the reviews found here on this site and I have to tell you at that point I was very reluctant to try them out given the high number of very negative reviews I read. A couple of months went by with my internet access limited to the personal hot spot on my phone but I found during this period several quite positive reviews for users in the Adelaide region where I’m based and I have to say my ears pricked up and I got a bit more interested with their offering.

We are a family of six ranging in age from 18 to 59 and the absence of any reliable ISP was taking its toll on our online forays and so based on several more positives found here and not without a bit of trepidation I bit the bullet and took a drive to ‘Hardly Normal’ and bought the Home Gateway 4G LTE for $199.00, which if things worked out ok would be a small price to pay to get a regular online connection.

Ok, so I got it home and unpacked the white HUAWEI modem, placed it on a shelf and with my fingers crossed I plugged it in and turned it on. The power light went solid and within a very short space of time all the other lights went solid also with the signal strength meter showing the full three bars indicating it was ‘ready to go”. At this point its a matter of logging onto the Vividwireless website and creating an account which only takes several minutes and you are good to go, it’s worth noting here that my internet access went ‘live’ immediately at that point … woot!

Ok, so I bought the service, got it home and then plugged in. I then registered an account with Vividwireless but the looming question is “Is the bloody thing any good?” Well I have to say that compared to what I had prior to this service it is absolutely FANTASTIC and using Telstra’s speed test recorded a download speed of 9600kbps, an upload speed of 1045kbps, latency of 35ms and a packet loss of -1% which is far and away the best result I have recorded for a long time and somewhere near the optimum specs claimed for this service and so to say I am happy with the product would be an understatement.

For the record I am typing this review whilst streaming a movie on NETFLIX, streaming a Mark Knopfler album on YouTube, having 14 tabs open in Chrome doing various stuff AND have a total of EIGHT devices presently tethered to the gateway and all in use by other family members and without a hiccup or buffering of any description, CRIKEY 🙂

To sum things up, anyone who is a little hesitant to give Vividwireless a try (after making sure you are in a coverage area) probably should not be. My understanding is that there were issues pertaining to service and the use of the earlier modem devices (noteably the USB sticks) but with those no longer offered and the network being powered now by OPTUS its likely things have taken a turn for the better, I know they have for me here.

Ohh, and if you’d like a little bonus in the form of a free month of service via the ‘refer a friend’ program offered by Vividwireless then please feel free to use my referral code of [removed] when you register your account initially.

Highly recommended product, so have fun and enjoy the great service, I know we are here in West Richmond, SA.

I’m using Vivid as an interm service till NBN is here, I’ve got it setup with a dual wan load balancing router working alongside my TPG 5Mbps ADSL2+ connection. Works a treat and for some downloads I get upto 15Mbps when combined with my TPG. If you thinking about signing up feel free to use my referral code to get 1 month free service worth $89. This has been a life saver, I have flatmates that don’t want to upgrade there adsl plan from 50gb so I went out and bought this and its been fantastic. Faster than adsl at my house, gets up to 1.3mb/s and I can even take it to work. definitely recommend it!

My Referral code:124180 . We both get a free month if you use it!

    Hello everyone,
I signed up 5 weeks ago as this was my best option being a renter and it has worked out very well so far. The registration process is really quick and easy: it takes less than five minutes. We normally connect it to up to 6 devices and it has never let us down. We get 10mbps down and 1mbps up.
My referral code for a FREE MONTH’S SERVICE is:

Very bad reception, customer service is useless. Just want to snatch money from the customer. Highly not recommended & suggested. Please beware of this company.
