Sony reveals Xperia Z2 smartphone, Z2 tablet and SmartBand

sony14mwc8Sony Mobile has introduced the Xperia Z2 smartphone, Xperia Z2 tablet and a SmartBand at the Mobile World Congress tradeshow in Barcelona.

At the event, the company also unveiled the new Xperia M2 4G smartphone.

Once again Sony Mobile has taken innovation from across the company – including display, audio and camera technology – and combined it in their new devices.

The Xperia Z2 is a follow-up to Sony’s success stories of 2013 – the Xperia Z and the Xperia Z1 – and features a 5.2-inch full high definition Triluminos display.

Some of the key strengths of the Xperia Z1 – its excellent camera and waterproof construction – are again featured with the Z2.

But the Z2 has taken the 20.7-megapixel camera a step further and added the ability to capture 4K video which has a resolution of 3840 x 2160.

The Xperia Z2 also includes digital noise cancelling technology that reduces ambient noise by up to 98 per cent when used with the included MDR NC13EM digital noise-cancelling headset.

The device is powered by a 2.3Ghz quad-core processor, 3GB RAM and has 4G/LTE connectivity.

The Xperia Z2 smartphone will be released worldwide in March.

The Xperia Z tablet was already thin but the Z2 tablet is even thinner at 6.4mm making it the thinnest and lightest (426g) waterproof tablet in the world.

The device features a new 10.1-inch full HD Triluminos Live Colour LED display for eye-catching colour reproduction and clarity.

Also included with the Z2 tablet is the same noise-cancelling technology that was introduced on the Xperia Z2 smartphone.

The Xperia Z2 tablet will hit shelves in March.

The Xperia M2 has a 4.6-inch qHD display and is 8.6mm thick.

Also on board is 4G/LTE connectivity and an 8-megapixel Exmor RS for Mobile HDR camera.

The Xperia M2 will also be offered in a dual-sim card variant.

Sony added another device to the wearable category with the launch of the SmartBand SWR10 that goes beyond just fitness tracking.

The device works with the new Lifelog Android application that can help capture daily events like places visited, music listened to, games played and books read.

And the SmartBand can connect effortlessly with one touch using NFC (near field communication) and is fully waterproof.

The Sony SmartBand SWR10 is available in a number of colours

It can also control functions on the Xperia devices like Walkman music playback simply by tapping the band.
