Google’s Chromecast streaming device lands in Australia on May 28
Google’s Chromecast – the HDMI dongle for your TV that can stream content from your mobile devices – will be available in Australia from May 28.
Both Dick Smith and JB Hi-Fi will reportedly be offering the small device for $49.
Chromecast has been available in the US since last year at a cost of $US35 and many Australians have picked one up and brought them home.
The device connects to a HDMI port on your TV and creates a wireless connection to your smartphone, tablet or laptop.
Once connected users can send their favourite TV show, movies, music and your own content to your television.
It is similar in many ways to Apple TV which offers similar functionality.
Chromecast works with online services which offer movies and TV shows on demand so users aren’t restricted to watching that content on the smaller screen of their mobile device or computer.
The Chromecast will be priced at $49 and will be available from May 28.
