Coles has launched a trial of a Coles MasterCard Mobile Wallet that will allow customers to pay with their credit card using their smartphones.
The Coles MasterCard Mobile Wallet utilises the same technology and security of the MasterCard PayPass where customers can make contactless payments using their smartphone instead of a physical card.
Users simply download the smartphone app and link their credit cards to their digital wallet along with their Flybuys accounts so they can still earn points.
The trial, held in conjunction with GE Capital Australia, Vodafone, MasterCard and Gemalto, is being conducted among a small sample group of 60 shoppers to assess ease of use and the speed of transactions.
The Coles MasterCard Mobile Wallet can be used at Coles, Coles Express and across a range of more than 700,000 retailers which are already offering MasterCard PayPass.
“The latest trial of the new Coles MasterCard Mobile Wallet is another great example of Coles embracing the latest payment technology, as we work towards making the shopping experience more convenient and rewarding for Coles MasterCard customers,” said Coles General Manager of Financial Services Richard Wormald.
