Apple set to reveal the new iPhone on September 9
Apple will reportedly unveil the iPhone 6 at a special launch in San Francisco on September 9, according to tech site Re/code.
The site is reporting Apple is planning a media event for that date which has usually been the time of year when new iPhones are revealed.
Judging by that time line, the new iPhone will likely go on sale on September 19 or September 26.
According to the rumours, Apple will release a 4.7-inch iPhone that’s thinner than the iPhone 5S with a faster processor, bigger battery and improved camera.
It is also possible Apple could unveil a second even larger 5.5-inch iPhone.
Could the iPhone 4.7-inch model be called the iPhone Air? Will the 5.5-inch iPhone be called the iPhone Pro?
The bigger screen seems to be the strongest rumours surrounding the new iPhone.
Research has show Apple can increase its market share in smartphones and retain more users if it decided to increase its screen size.
Android and Windows Phone devices are now commonly released with 5-inch high definition screens and are attracting iPhone users with these bigger and brighter displays.
Apple is also reportedly working on a smartwatch that many are calling the iWatch but there are no solid indications when it will be released.
Speculation is the iWatch could be unveiled later this year in October or November – possibly at the same time as the new iPad.
