Aldi the latest to launch low-cost pre-paid mobile plans

aldimobileYou can buy almost anything at Aldi and now you can purchase a low cost and flexible pre-paid mobile phone plan powered by the Telstra network.

Recharges are as low as $15 with credit lasting up to 365 days – unlike competitor plans where credit expires in 30 says.

The SIM only plans have no lock-in contracts or flag fall charges and calls are charged at 12 cents a minute and texts are 12 cents each. Data is also charged at 5 cents per megabyte.

This type of plan would suit low-level users who don’t make and receive many calls or use much data.

For heavier users Aldi Mobile also has an unlimited plan at $35 for 30 days use of unlimited calls, unlimited texts and 5GB of data along with a data only plan for tablets at $15 for 30 days for 2GB.

Aldi Mobile is a Telstra reseller and will offer its customers 2G and 3G service on the network.The move follows a similar offering from Kogan Mobile which was unveiled in late 2012.

Access to Telstra’s 4G service will remain exclusively for Telstra customers.

Aldi Mobile customers can recharge their plans at any of the 300 Aldi stores around Australia or online at www.aldimobile.com.au.

The service will be available from March 6.
