samsung14cespress3New smart TVs are about to hit the market and many are listing their older TVs for sale to buy the new models, according to online classifieds site Gumtree.

Listings for used TVs have seen a 16 per cent increase in the past month as manufacturers prepare to introduce their latest models to the market from early May.

For anyone in the market for a second hand TV, now is the time to start looking with plenty of listings on Gumtree.

There are more than 6000 second TVs listed on Gumtree as of this week.

Even customers looking to buy a new TV and don’t mind picking up a 2013 model are in for a bargain as retailers slash prices on this older stock to make way for the 2014 range.

On Gumtree, Samsung is the most popular brand with about 1000 second hand TV listings followed by LG (743) and Sony (661).

“We’re seeing particular retail moments really impact the number of listings online. In fact, listings for TVs jumped 16% from February to March alone and a further 46% since this time last year,” says Gumtree spokesperson, Niki Hennessy.
