Foxtel launches app to watch Olympics on your tablet
Foxtel has released a new free app which will allow existing subscribers to view Foxtel’s eight London 2012 Olympic Games channels anywhere on their tablet.
Foxtel’s London 2012 app can streamed content to the iPad or compatible Android tablet via 3G or wi-fi so viewers will never miss an Olympic moment.
Users can watch action from eight dedicated channels and catch up on more than 700 hours of highlights including all of the gold medal events.
There will also be access to the latest results as well as the ability to browse the “must watch” sessions for each day of the Olympics.
Subscribers can also use the Foxtel London 2012 app to remote record Olympic Games sessions directly their Foxtel iQ set top box at home.
The app’s built-in TV guide also flags gold medal events and even marks events where Australians are competing with an Australian flag.
“The London 2012 App is a brilliant complementary service for Foxtel sports subscribers,” says Foxtel executive director of product, Jim Rudder.
“Not only does the App allow you to watch Foxtel’s exclusive eight screens of London Olympic action anywhere and anytime, but you also have the convenience of being able to catch up on any events you missed with the touch of a button.
“Given many of the Olympic sports will take place overnight, you’ll be able to check results and quickly replay the sessions – never missing a moment of the action.”
Access to the Foxtel Olympic coverage through the app is only available to residential subscribers with the Sports package.
The app will not work for users with Foxtel on Xbox 360, Foxtel on T-Box, Foxtel on Internet TV customers and Optus TV featuring Foxtel.
Data charges may apply when streaming content either over 3G or wi-fi.
The Foxtel 2012 app is free and available now through the Apple’s iTunes App Store and Google’s Play Store.
