Belkin expands WeMo home automation range with light switch
Belkin has extended its WeMo home automation offerings with a new light switch that lets users to control their wired household lighting from anywhere.
Revealed at CES in Las Vegas, the WeMo Light Switch takes the place of a regular light switch in your home and makes it possible to control that light switch remotely with the free dedicated WeMo app from across the room or across the world.
The original WeMo Home Automation switch can be plugged into a regular power point and allows users to switch on or turn off any appliance that is plugged into the WeMo over a home wireless network or over 3G/4G.
Now there is no need to re-wire the home to have wireless lighting control.
Simply install Belkin WeMo Light Switches in any room and you can turn the lights on or off from the palm of your hand with your smartphone or tablet.
And, like the WeMo Home Automation switch, it is easy to see what lights are on or off with the WeMo app.
Each switch controlled by the app can be renamed and even labelled with a photograph.
The Belkin WeMo Light Switch will be available before mid 2013.
Belkin has also announced Android compatibility with the WeMo system with the release of a new app by the time the WeMo Light Switch hits the market.
At the moment the WeMo app to control the Home Automation switch is only available for iPhone users.
