eero has released the Outdoor 7 – a mesh router that can extend our high speed broadband connections into our backyards and outdoor entertainment areas.
The eero Outdoor 7 is purpose-built to be used outside and is rugged and weatherproof to handle the conditions while still maintaining the connection to your home’s broadband network.
It takes an existing eero mesh network and now expands it beyond the four walls of your home.
This is an ideal product for Australians who live, work and entertain in the outdoor spaces at home.
Stats released by eero show 31per cent of Australians have upgraded their outdoor areas in the past three years, spending more than $10,000 in the process.
Meanwhile 38 per cent are adding connected technology outdoors and nearly a quarter of Aussies are planning further upgrades and a similar number already spend more time in these spaces than they did five years ago.
But at the same time our connectivity is struggling to keep up, a concern for nearly a third of Australians, while two-thirds still experience connection issues at home.
The eero Outdoor 7 can be used as part of a new eero mesh router set up in your home and can also be added to an existing eero Mesh network.
It brings high-speed internet to outdoor area like the pool, the shed and a granny flat.
It’s also useful to connect to robot lawnmowers and security cameras and other smart devices inside and outside of your home.
These are usually dead zones on regular networks but now the eero Outdoor 7 can plug that gap and allow users to work and play and entertain in more parts of their home and property.
Each eero Outdoor 7 unit can support more than 100 connected devices across your property and offer speeds of up to 2.1 Gbps.
It can cover up to 1,390 square metres outdoors, which is about the size of five tennis courts.
It is IP66 weatherproof for year-round outdoor use and can operate in temperatures between -40°C and 54°C.
“eero has always focused on delivering Wi-Fi you can count on – fast, secure and reliable. With Outdoor 7, we’re extending that experience outdoors, built for Australian homes and conditions,” says Jackie Lipman, managing director of eero APAC.
“We’ve seen customers get creative – putting indoor devices in plastic bags, mounting them outside or running extension cables just to reach a signal.
“That made it clear a purpose-built outdoor solution was needed.
“Outdoor 7 is engineered for everything from Pilbara heat to alpine cold temperatures in the Snowy Mountains, delivering consistent performance wherever you live.
“And if something does come up, customers have access to local Australian support – real people who understand local homes and conditions.”
The eero Outdoor 7 includes mounting accessories and a long power cable with a 2.5GbE port that supplies power over Ethernet via the included 30W outdoor PoE adapter.
eero Outdoor 7 is available now for $729.99 through amazon.com.au, JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks and Bunnings.
