LG has become the latest company to enter the tablet market with the release of the G Pad 8.3 that inherits some innovative features from its smartphone cousins.
The device has an 8.3-inch full high definition IPS (in-plane switching) display with a 1.7Ghz quad core processor and a powerful 4600mAh battery.
The LG tablet is the first device to have a screen size of 8.3-inches that sits right in the middle of 7-inch and 10-inch tablets.
Customers usually have to choose between those two screen sizes but the LG G Pad 8.3 will now offer another “in-between” choice.
The device is 21.7cm long, 12.7cm wide and just 8.3mm thick. It weighs only 338g.
“We believe that customers are looking for compact portability without compromising on technology when buying a tablet,” says Lambro Skropidis, General Manager Marketing for LG Australia.
“The G Pad 8.3 marks LG’s entrance into the tablet category and we’re thrilled to be launching such an innovative and premium product.
“With its beautiful display and slim design, the device packs a punch thanks to its long-lasting battery and quad-core 1.7GHz processor.
“The LG G Pad 8.3 offers practical features that provide real-life benefits, making it a perfect tablet for the contemporary technology consumer who is looking for convenience, style and advanced technology.”
Apart from its impressive hardware specs, the LG G Pad 8.3 also packs a number of new useful features.
These include QPair, QRemote, QSlide and KnockOn.
QPair can link to your Android smartphone to relay call and message notifications with the ability to reply to text messages right from the G Pad 8.3.
QRemote can take over as your new universal remote to control your TV and all of your other entertainment gear like Blu-ray Disc players and set-top boxes.
QSlide, as seen on the LG G2 smartphone, makes it possible to run two apps on the screen at the same time.
KnockOn, also inherited from the G2, allows users to sleep and wake the G Pad 8.3 by just double tapping the screen.
The LG G Pad 8.3 tablet will be available soon from JB Hi-Fi for $399.
