Apple has updated the processors on its line of MacBook Pro laptops with Retina Display while at the same time lowering prices by up to $350.
The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display now starts at $1649 (down from $1899) with 128GB flash storage while the model with 256GB of flash storage now features a faster 2.6Ghz dual-core Intel i5 processor and a lower $1849 price tag (down from $2,199).
The 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display models remain at the same price but now features either a 2.4Ghz and 2.7Ghz processor and now double the memory with 16GB RAM.
Apple also announced the 13-inch MacBook Air with 256GB flash storage now has a lower price of $1549.
These price reductions come just days after Apple was called to testify at a parliamentary inquiry in Canberra along with Microsoft and Adobe.
But the fact these updated models and price cuts are also being reflected in the US as well means the timing of the announcement is just a coincidence.
