Apple has announced the latest operating systems across the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Vision Pro, and Apple TV which will include the next generation of Apple Intelligence and Siri AI, along with a host of new features including enhanced parental controls.
The versions are iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, visionOS 27 and tvOS 27 will be released officially in September after public beta testing kicks off in July.
The new macOS 27 will be known as macOS Golden Gate.
Front and centre of these new offerings will be Siri AI and Apple Intelligence.
On the design side the liquid glass interface is now adjustable and app icons are sharper and more defined.
The new software will also be more responsive with smoother animations with apps launching 30 per cent faster.
Photos will load up to 70 per cent faster after being taken and AirDrop transfers are set to become 80 per cent faster.
Another new feature of iOS 27 is faster network transitions so the iPhone will intuitively switch between Wi-Fi and cellular connections when necessary.
Maps have also had an impressive upgrade with fly over mode over selected cities sporting a stunning new look that looks as smooth and detailed as video.
On the Apple Vision Pro users can now turn panoramas into stunning spatial scenes and use them as their own personal environments.
Apple Watch has introduced a new dynamic app grid featuring the icons for five Siri suggested apps.
AirPods users can now create custom EQ to personalise their AirPods sound.
There has also been a major improvement across parental controls and child safety features.
The new system allows for a child account to be set up, which is tailored to the child’s age and limits access to adult websites and only allows them to view age-appropriate media.
Parents can choose what apps their child can access on their device and start with just a few essential apps or choosing the apps they feel appropriate for their son or daughter.
The Ask to Buy feature will give the parents a heads up when their child needs approval before downloading an app from the App Store, whether it’s free or paid.
Time Allowances is a new feature that gives parents more ways to manage the time their child spends on their devices using various apps.
Parents can now manage their child’s app use across different categories like entertainment, games, and social media and set appropriate time allowances for each one.
On the communication side parents can manage who their children connect with over messages, FaceTime and iPhone.
Parents can set up a requirement that their kids need to ask for approval before connecting with anyone new.
Communication safety already exists and blurs nudity if detected in messages and FaceTime calls and is turned on by default if the user is under 18.
This feature has now also been extended to block gore or violent content when detected in shared images or videos.
These new parental control features will be available in iOS 27, iPadOS 27 and macOS 27.
