Sony has launched an all-new 4K ultra short throw projector that is designed to integrate easier than ever into customer’s homes so they can enjoy true big-screen entertainment.
The Sony VPL-VZ1000ES can be positioned as close as six inches from the wall and yet still project an image up to 100 inches in size.
Larger still if you move the projector further away from the wall.
This means it can be set up in any room of your house – a lounge room, bedroom or home theatre no matter what the design or layout of your house happens to be.
So, you can still produce a large image in a small space and, because the projector is in front of the viewers and not behind, there will be no annoying shadows on the screen.
In modern houses, where space is limited, it would be possible to install a motorised screen to drop down and cover a window whenever you wanted to watch a movie.
Then when the show is over, you can simply raise the screen and enjoy your view once again.
The unit is 92.5cm wide, 49.4cm long and 21.9cm thick and weighs 35kg.
And because its position is so close to the wall it’s unobtrusive and suits the room’s décor.
The Sony VPL-VZ1000ES generates 2500 lumens of colour light output and contains the advanced SXRD panels along with the Z Phosphor laser light engine which can enhance HDR content.
The projectors laser light source can achieve peak brightness a lot faster than conventional projectors and can maintain brightness and colour accuracy a lot longer, offering longer lamp life.
“Our revolutionary new ultra-short throw projector delivers incredible native 4K HDR imagery just inches away from your wall, then fades into the existing room design once turned off,” says Brad Hanrahan, group manager – business and institutional Sony professional solution.
“It really is the only projector that can deliver true, native 4K HDR pictures from the lens to the lounge.
“Up until now home cinema enthusiasts have needed a dedicated room for watching projected content; this isn’t always ideal, since not everyone has the luxury of extra space to accommodate an extra-large screen.
“The new VPL-VZ1000ES changes this dynamic completely, providing an enchanting home theatre experience up to 120inch in your existing living space.
“Put simply, this projector can replace any TV and give you a better viewing experience.”
The Sony VPL-VZ1000ES ultra-short throw projector is available now from authorised Sony professional dealers and is priced at $30,999.
