Australian company espresso Displays has just launched its new 15 Pro portable monitor – a serious upgrade with premium build quality, improved brightness and with even more energy efficiency.
Tech Guide has been using the sleek new 15 Pro for a few weeks and it has become an essential part of our daily workflow.
We mainly use our laptop to write our stories and reviews and we use the 15 Pro and attach it magnetically to the Stand+ to position the monitor directly above our MacBook Air’s screen.
This way we can place the document we’re on the 15 Pro which is at eye level to give us a more ergonomic workspace.
We’ve have had neck and back issues that need regular adjustments from our chiropractor but using the 15 Pro to keeping our work at a more comfortable level means less headaches and pain.
The 15 Pro has a 60Hz refresh rate, has 4K resolution (3840 x 2160), can display more than a billion colours with a brightness of 55 nits and 1500:1 contrast.
Screen size is actually 15.6-inches and the unit itself is 22.5cm long and 36cm wide.
And it all connects through a single USB-C cable that you plug into your laptop or desktop computer.
We’ve been taking the 15 Pro everywhere with us and being built with solid premium materials means it can handle day to day wear and tear.
The fact that it is a touchscreen is also a game changer – especially for MacBook users because it brings to the table touchscreen capabilities.
You can also easily switch for landscape to portrait mode depending on how you prefer to work.
We prefer landscape mode but if you’re working long lists and documents having the screen in portrait mode lets you see more.
And if you add the espressoPen it turn the espresso 15 Pro into your own personal sketchbook, canvas or notepad.
For the right customer, the 15 Pro can have a huge impact on their creativity, productivity and efficiency.
Apart from the ergonomic advantages it offers us, the 15 Pro also makes it possible to spread out our work which is useful when working with several documents and applications open at the same time.
For us it has streamlined our workflow and allowed us to focus on the job at hand and produce our best work rather than being distracted by all the logistics and effort trying to find relevant files if we are working from a single screen.
The colour accuracy and brightness of the 15 Pro is also very impressive.
If you’re a creative professional or a photographer and videographer you’ll be pleased to see the 15 Pro can render colour accurately to match real life – an important requirement for editing and processing images and video.
For everyone else having the added room to move is also refreshing.
Once you’ve experienced using the espresso 15 Pro it’s hard to go back to a single display.
The beauty of the thin (9mm) and light (800g) design means we can take the 15 Pro anywhere. Stand+ weighs 565g.
The espresso 15 Pro is thin enough to fit in the laptop section of our backpack with our 15-inch MacBook Air so it was no effort to take it with us.
The Stand+ also folds down to a size slightly larger than a CD case.
The espresso 15 Pro is available now for $1099 through JB Hi-Fi.
The espresso 15 Pro Bundle is also available for $1,299 and this includes the 15 Pro, Case 15 Pro, Creator (screen protector and paper-like surface and espressoPen.
