Often when we are searching for new apps in iTunes for our iPhone or iPad we sometimes come across various selections we think would be perfect for other people.
We can pick up the phone or send an email to that person and kindly give them a heads up about the app.
But another way is to “gift” the app – in other words pay for, if it’s not free, and send it as a surprise.
The hunt for apps has intensified with Apple now approaching 25 billion downloads. Now these apps cab be given away as little gifts for the recipient to download and install on their device for free.
To gift an app click on the arrow on the right side of the buy button which also displays the price.
In the drop down menu that appears the “Gift This App” option is seen.
To start off the process users enter their name, the recipient’s name and email address along with a personal message to go with it.
Users also have the option of selecting the delivery method which can be either via email or printed like a gift certificate.
Gift apps can only be redeemed from the store country from which they are sent so Australian users can only select from the Australian iTunes app store.
