David Hasselhoff changes his name in Amaysim marketing stunt

TV legend David Hasselhoff has caused a stir on social media after announcing that he changed his name to David Hoff before it was revealed it was part of an Amaysim marketing campaign.

The Hoff tweeted that is was “Big news for me and a massive relief for me” and also said in an accompanying video “I hope everyone understands …. it feels great”.

At the same time the star of Knight Rider and Baywatch changed his online account names from David Hasselhoff to David Hoff.

Amaysim, the Australian telco that offers SIM only plans, claimed responsibility for the stunt which was part of a marketing campaign under the banner “Less Hassle, More Hoff”.

The goal of the campaign is to illustrate the simple experience of finding a plans with no lock-in contracts with unlimited calls and plenty of data options.

“Anyone can relate to wanting to kick a few of life’s hassles to the kerb, and we were buzzing at the thought of working with a global icon like The Hoff to have some fun while showing people how easy it is to make life a bit simpler,” says Amaysim’s chief commercial officer, Andrew Balint.

Amaysim’s ad campaign with David Hasselhoff will be seen and heard across TV, radio and on social media.
