Australia to receive iPhone 6S first while iOS 9 sees fastest adoption ever

The new iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will go on sale at 8am in Sydney this Friday September 25 – the first place in the world where customers can get their hands on Apple’s anticipated new device.

Just this week Apple also announced iOS 9 – a free update released for existing iPhone, iPad and iPad Touch users –  has become its most successful upgrade to date with more than 50 per cent of devices running the latest software.

Australia will become the first place where the new iPhone will be available thanks to the time difference and will be followed by Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the UK and the US in the first release wave.

On September 26, customers will be able to visit the Apple website to reserve their iPhone to pick up from their nearest Apple store.

Most Apple stores will also have daily stock replenished for walk-in customers to purchase each day as well.

The latest iPhones will come preloaded with iOS 9 and feature Apple’s latest 3D Touch display that responds to how deeply you press the screen and provide shortcuts to features and functions.

Other new features include Live Photo – where the iPhone captures a series of images before and after a photo is taken to make it come to life – and a new 12-megapixel camera which is capable of shooting 4K video.

“Customer response to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus has been incredibly positive, we can’t wait to get our most advanced iPhones ever into customers’ hands starting this Friday,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “iOS 9 is also off to an amazing start, on pace to be downloaded by more users than any other software release in Apple’s history.”
