LG has released its home entertainment range that includes ultra high definition, OLED and LED smart TVs that are running an all-new simple operating system.
LG’s promise to the Australian customer is to deliver TVs that will tick the boxes on design, picture quality and ease of use.
According to LG’s own research picture quality is still the most important consideration for TV buyers.
Other factors like price, reliability, ease of use and smart features are also high in the list for TV shoppers.
LG has also responded to another major trend among Australian users – the move to larger screen sizes.
The LG 2014 range is mainly 50-inches and above and includes the latest smart TV features and easy connectivity to content.
And while 70 per cent of the TVs sold in 2013 in Australia were smart TVs, a large proportion of users have not fully utilised the television’s features because they have found it too complicated.
LG’s response to this is the addition of the new webOS – an all-new operating system for the company’s smart TV that can not only walk customers through an easy set-up process but also provide a simple intuitive interface for everyday use.
LG has divided its TV range into three series – E Series, U Series and L Series.
E Series will cover the company’s OLED (organic light emitting diode) range.
U Series will include LG’s range of Ultra High Definition TVs while the L Series will incorporate the LED models running the new webOS for simpler set-up and navigation.
E SERIES
LG has increased its focus on OLED and it plans to release even more models into the market in 2014.
Already available is the LG curved 55-inch OLED 55EA9800 which was recently reduced to $5,999.
LG says it has “cracked the code” to manufacture high quality OLED panels at a high yield rate and is currently the only TV manufacturer offering an OLED product in Australia.
Later this year LG says it will introduce a 4K Ultra High Definition 77-inch curved OLED.
U SERIES
There are two new Ultra High Definition models from LG this year – the UB980T and the UB850T – that deliver a resolution that’s four times that of full high definition TV at more than 8.3 million pixels.
Ultra High Definition has shown tremendous growth and is actually more popular than plasma which has declined by 45 per cent in 2013.
UHD, on the other hand, tripled in size in 2013 and will continue on this trajectory in 2014.
The UB850T will be available in 49-inch ($2,499) and 55-inch ($3,199) models and features the Ultra HD Engine to upscale standard and high definition content to ultra HD clarity.
This model will also feature twin tuners so viewers can watch a TV and record another to a connected USB flash drive or hard drive.
The UB980T will be offered in 65-inch ($5,999), 79-inch ($9,999) and 84-inch ($TBA) models and feature a metallic design and a slim bezel.
Also on board is a 200Hz screen refresh rate plus a built-in camera and high quality Harman Kardon speakers.
L SERIES
The standouts in LG’s L Series are the LB6500 and the LB7500 – full high definition LED smart TVs that are running the new webOS interface.
The LB6500 will be available in 32-inch ($899), 42-inch ($1,249), 50-inch ($1,749) and 55-inch ($2,199) sized.
The LB7500 range has a 200Hz screen refresh rate and will be sold in 55-inch ($2,799), 60-inch ($3,199) and 65-inch ($4,599) sizes.
