Apple has confirmed a launch event on September 9 (3am, September 10 AEST) which will unveil the new iPhone 17 range that will include the thinnest iPhone ever – the iPhone 17 Air.
The line-up will include the iPhone 17, the iPhone 17 Air, the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
It is expected the newcomer to the line-up – the iPhone 17 Air – will take the place of the iPhone 17 Plus.
The iPhone 17 will have a 6.3-inch display and the iPhone 17 Air will be 6.6-inch with the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max sporting 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch screens respectively.

The most noticeable new design feature on the Pro models will be the extended camera bump which will run almost the full width of the rear panel.
The Apple icon on the event invitation may also be another clue on a new iPhone camera feature – thermal imaging. It also the has words Awe Dropping below the logo.
The new iPhone 17 range will also be available in some bold new colours including orange and blue.

iPhone 17 Air – which is rumoured to be just 5.5mm thick – only has a single camera an will also have a large cameras bump like the iPhone 17 Pro models.
All new iPhone 17 models will come pre-loaded with iOS26.
Other products we can expect to see will include an updated Apple Watch Series 11 and the Apple Watch Ultra 3.
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 will reportedly have satellite connectivity like the iPhone to enable a connection in remote areas where there are no cellular networks.
