We travel a lot and we rarely check in a bag. On our most recent trip to the US last week we took the new July Carry On Pro which has a front pocket to store a laptop and tablet.
The July Carry On Pro, priced at $395, is made from an aerospace grade polycarbonate shell which makes the bag both strong and lightweight at 3.9kg.
It has a capacity of 42L and is 55cm tall, 38.5cm wide and 21.5cm deep.
The stylish July Carry On Pro also has an ejectable battery with USB and fast charge USB-C for those times when you need to power up your phone or tablet before and during your flight.
The battery pops out from a small flap beneath the handle – all you need to provide is your own cable to charge the device.
This is the first carry-on bag we’ve used that includes a front zip up pocket.
Usually we fit our MacBook and iPad in a backpack which we slip onto the handle of the carry-on bag to make it easier to roll through the airport.
Having this front pocket allowed us to store our laptop and tablet in the July Carry On Pro which made our backpack a lot lighter.
Having this pocket would also mean that for some trips our backpack probably wouldn’t even be needed – we could get away with a smaller second item like a sling bag.
That front pocket backs into the clothing compartment inside the bag which means the more you fit inside that half the less space you’re going to have in that front pocket.
For our trip we were able to still fit all our clothes in the zip up compartment and still enjoy enough room in the pocket for our MacBook Pro and iPad Pro.
There was also enough space to store our e-reader, our book of sudoku puzzles and our earphones.
When we travel, we try to optimise our access to the items we need which means they need to be at hand as soon as we need them.
Travelling through security I knew that my computer and tablet were in one easily accessible place in the July Carry On Pro.
Normally we would have to access two different parts of our backpack to access those items and put them in the security tray.
After using the July Carry On Pro we couldn’t imagine using a carry-on bag that didn’t have that handy front pocket.
Inside is water resistant and stainproof nylon lining with leather finishes on the nylon straps and hinge.
It also has tough YKK Japanese zippers and a 20 height multistop telescopic handle.
The integrated TSA lock also has a combination to provide even more security.
All our clothes fit snugly inside the zip up half of the July Carry On Pro.
On the other half was where we stored our other items including a toiletry bag, headset, charges and other small devices we need to produce our podcasts and videos.
On this side you’ll find the July Y-strap compression system which holds everything neatly in place with a strap, so you not only are you keeping everything secure but you also maximising the available space.
The July Carry On Pro comes in several impressive colours including sand, moss, forest, navy, shadow lavender, clay and charcoal.
Our July Carry On Pro was shadow lavender which is a bluey gun-metal grey colour.
All July bags come with a lifetime warranty and include 100-day returns and free shipping around Australia.
The July Carry On Pro is available now and is priced at $395.
There is also an option to personalise the bag with your name for an additional $65.
