Tech Guide took a hands-on look at the new Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra which has just been unveiled at the Unpacked global launch event in San Jose.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra is the largest smartphone in the range and the model which has undergone the biggest design change.
The S25 now has slightly more rounded edges and has lost the more squared look of the S24 Ultra.
It has also lost the slightly rounded side edges which are now flat just like the S25 and S25+.
It has the same screen size at 6.9-inch but also manages to have even thinner bezels to give the screen the impression of going even further edge to edge.
The Samsung S25 Ultra measures 77.6mm wide, 162.8mm long and 8.2mm thick and it tips the scales at 218g.
It is narrower, thinner but longer than the S24 Ultra which was 79mm wide, 162.3mm long and 8.6mm thick.
It is still made of titanium and remains the only model in the line-up made of that premium material.
The display glass has also had an upgrade to Corning Gorilla Armour 2.
This is a big deal because it means the S25 Ultra is even more rugged than the S24 range.
Word is last year’s Corning Gorilla Armour resulted in 60 per cent less screen repairs on Samsung’s S24 smartphones.
And the Corning Gorilla Armour 2 is naturally even stronger so that will give users peace of mind.
The 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display unsurprisingly looks stunning.
The new AI image processing technology ProScaler is mean to make it look even better – a bit like a Samsung TV upscales the image on the screen – so I’m looking forward to seeing the improvements.
The other big enhancement is with the already superb camera.
The S25 Ultra goes from a 12-megapixel ultra-wide and jumps up to a 50-megapixel ultra-wide which paves the way for even crisper images and sharper more accurate colours.
On the performance side the S25 Ultra has got it where it counts with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy chipset under the hood.
That’s going to do the heavy lifting when it comes to processing AI on the device itself.
When using the many AI features like Draw Assist and Generative Edit you can see it’s performing those tasks even faster.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is the most powerful device in the line-up.
If you’re after a device that is your AI companion, your entertainment and communication tool and one hell of a great camera then the S25 Ultra would be the device for you.
