DJI has launched the new Osmo Mobile 7 Series phone gimbal which includes intelligent tracking and three-axis stabilisation so users can capture cinema quality footage with their smartphone.
DJI, the leader in civilian drones and creative camera and gimbal technology, has poured its considerable knowledge into creating the Osmo Mobile 7P and Osmo Mobile 7.
They both maintain a lightweight and portable design while still offering DJI’s 7th generation of stabilisation and ActiveTrack 7.0 technology.
“From award-winning filmmakers to short-form content creators, DJI continues to expand our ecosystem of creative camera technologies and push the industry forward,” said Ferdinand Wolf, Product Experience Director at DJI.
“With the Osmo Mobile 7 Series’ latest advances in intelligent tracking and camera stabilisation, capturing beautiful, professional content with a smartphone has never been easier.”
The Osmo Mobile 7P has a three-axis smartphone stabiliser and a new Multifunctional Module to allow creators to track subjects.
Also on board is an integrated light control with multiple colour temperature and brightness levels.
The Multifunction Module acts as a microphone receiver and its USB C port can be connected to your phone to offer higher quality audio transmission while offering extra power.
The Osmo Mobile 7 is the lightest gimbal in its class at just 300g and has the same compact design as the Osmo Mobile 7P as well as quick unfolding, a built-in tripod, one step storage with support for the Multifunction Module that can be purchased separately.
The Multifunction Module will work on the phone’s native camera app, live streaming apps and other camera apps available for the devices and allow you to track your subject.
The module also comes into play to maintain focus in a crowd or reacquire a subject if they leave the frame and re-enter it.
Users can attach the module to the gimbal with the magnetic clip and control it using hand gestures to take photos, start or stop recording, activate tracking or adjust their composition.
If you show your palm to the module, it starts or stops intelligent tracking while making a V gesture takes a photo or starts or stops video recording.
When you make a double L gesture with two hands it can adjust a subject’s framing.
ActiveTrack 7.0, the latest version of DJI’s most advanced tracking technology, gives the gimbal the ability to track subjects and follow them automatically even in a crowd.
Smart Capture means the gimbal can detect multiple subjects while users can direct the gimbal to lock onto one subject or switch to a different subject with one tap.
Also onboard is the side wheel for more cinematic control with the ability for users to adjust the focal length and achieve a smoother zoom or even switch to a manual focus.
The new DJI gimbal is also compatible with Apple Watch which can be used as a smart remote for the gimbal and a remote control for the camera feed.
The DJI Osmo Mobile 7 Series has a battery that will run for up to 10 hours on a single charge.
