Samsung reveals pricing and availability of its 2016 Quantum Dot SUHD TV range
Samsung has announced pricing and availability for its 2016 range of next generation Quantum Dot TVs, audio products and the first 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player released in Australia.
The company has done its homework and has studied the viewing habits and preferences of Australian customers and addressed their “pain points” with their new line-up of TVs.
“The way Australians experience home television has evolved dramatically in terms of viewing habits and access to on-demand or streaming services,” says Samsung Australia vice president for consumer electronics Carl Rose.
“With the arrival of technologies like HDR, and access to 4K Blu-ray discs, this launch comes at an important time for the industry.
“Our goal is to create the ultimate television experience for Australians, bringing together multiple content sources in one seamless, easy-to-use interface, while delivering an amazing picture with our Quantum Dot display technology,”
Part of Samsung’s research revealed that 71 per cent of Australians have an open plan living room layout which means TVs are situated next to windows, mounted on walls and coping with bright sunlight during daylight hours.
Samsung’s new SUHD TVs can handle any of these settings thanks to HDR (High Dynamic Range) along with the advanced colour and brightness of the screen – a direct result of the Quantum Dot display technology.
Also onboard to help reduce screen glare is Ultra Black technology so viewers can easily watch their content no matter how bright the room is.
The latest range has also taken design to the next level with attention to detail not only on the screen side of the TV but also on the rear panel as well so it looks good from every angle no matter where they are positioned – even in front of a window.
There will also still be a large portion of curved TV in the Samsung TV line-up. Samsung says its customers are very much in favour of the curve.
Samsung’s research also showed customers are looking for great picture quality, smart features plus ease of use.
The new Samsung range of TVs is powered by the Tizen operating system which is the foundation for the Smart Hub which is easy to navigate and an easy way to find and manage your content.
Viewers can customize the home page of the Smart Hub to suit their viewing habits with a list of their favourite sources like their Blu-ray player, Foxtel and a gaming console.
The TV can also remember what you were watching before you switched the TV off and return to that source and even, in the case of Netflix, right where you were up to in the program you were watching.
You can also eliminate the need for multiple remotes with the new Samsung TVs. A small single remote can automatically recognise compatible Blu-ray and DVD player, set-top boxes, gaming consoles and home theatre systems.
The new Samsung range of products includes Australia’s first 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc player – the UBD K8500 – which already available for $599.
And there are also plenty of 4K UHD discs in the pipeline starting with The Revenant from 20th Century Fox next week and followed by a range of new releases and other favourite titles.
On the audio front, Samsung is also offering next level soundbars to compliment the viewing experience.
There are straight and curved models to match your TV.
The Series 8 flagship curved soundbars offering 9.1 channel sound with each speaker boasting a dedicated amplifier. This product was engineered and tuned at Samsung’s audio labs in California.
In addition, Samsung is also launching a wireless rear speaker kit which makes it easy to create a surround sound cinema-like audio experience your home.
