Apple has announced the winners of the 2022 App Store Awards – judged to be the best app and games that inspired, connected and entertained users on the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV and iMac.
There were 16 winners which included an Australian developer Studio Drydock Pty Ltd for its game Wylde Flowers which won the Apple Arcade Game of the Year.
Wylde Flowers Is a farming sim with a twist. It has a host of interesting characters and allows users to explore a world of magical realms, secret forests, beautiful beaches and the friendly town of Fairhaven.
“This year’s App Store Award winners reimagined our experiences with apps that delivered fresh, thoughtful, and genuine perspectives,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO.
“From self-taught solo creators to international teams spanning the globe, these entrepreneurs are making a meaningful impact, and represent the ways in which apps and games influence our communities and lives.”
Apple has also revealed its most downloaded paid and free apps from the App Store in Australia in 2022.
The iPhone App of the Year award went to BeReal – a social media app that allows users to share a real-life photo once a day with a special camera that shoots both a selfie and a regular photo at the same time so your friends can see exactly where you are and what you’re doing – without filters.
The iPad App of the Year was GoodNotes 5 from Time Base Technology Limited which is a digital note taking app which allows you to search handwritten notes, type text documents and folders and back it all up to the cloud so it can be accessible from any device.
MacFamilyTree 10 One from Synium Software GmbH won the Mac App of the Year award.
It allows users to discover their family history and immerse themselves in the world of genealogy to explore the family tree using 3D views, diagrams, reports and statistics.
The Apple Watch App of the Year went to Gentler Streak – an exercise and fitness tracker with a difference.
Gentler Streak puts your wellbeing first and helps you find a balance between fitness and rest.
The iPhone Game of the Year for 2022 is Apex Legends Mobile from Electronic Arts – a shooter game which also includes character-based gameplay and squad battles.
Moncage won the iPad Game of the Year award.
Design by XD Network, Moncage Is a puzzle adventure which takes place inside a mysterious cube with each side allowing users to access a unique world.
The iMac game of the year was Inscryption – a card-based odyssey which blends escape room puzzles and psychological horror.
Apple TV Game of the Year was El Hijo from HandyGames while Apple TV App of the Year was awarded to Spanish-language app ViX.
