Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has unveiled a small handheld device that will allow users to interact with the company’s new Muse AI agent without touching your smartphone or computer.
The small device is called Muse Charm and places Muse’s real-time voice and avatar on a keychain-sized device.
The unit has a fingerprint sensor in one corner, which can start a conversation without the user unlocking a phone or opening an app.
Zuckerberg said Muse Charm will be ready to ship for the holidays in December.
Muse will be accessible through Meta AI glasses and the soon-to-be-released Meta VR glasses.
Released only a couple of weeks ago in the US, the Muse AI agent is more than just an assistant.
Muse can get things done for you in the background and act on what you’re looking at and can empower people and put real power in users’ hands.
Muse is no basic assistant – it can hold a long conversation while it’s working in the background.
Every Muse has its own private computer and its own email address which you can use to get things done and provide another way to communicate with you.
Muse has been trained as a personal agent, which can remember preferences, personalise actions, and maintain continuity, as well as creating actions across apps.
Users can set goals and receive ideas, commission research and generate a custom feed, and all the while customising its character, personality, and even its voice.
For example, Muse could analyse a website, translate, plan groceries, help a child sleep through the night, build a fitness routine and even find a replacement for a rare broken china set.
So how does Muse make money?
In the keynote, Zuckerberg said Muse will be free for a large number of tokens, with an expectation to earn money later by charging a small fee from transactions including a small percentage of the money it makes for users.
Muse has just been released as an app for Mac so it can work across your files, messages, calendars, notes, and other sources and includes native dictation.
Zuckerberg also explained the Muse Connectors – these are partners in retail, travel, groceries work services that makes connecting and interacting faster and easier.
Today Meta is receiving more than 1,500 applications per week for companies to join the connector platform.
The Muse AI app will be available in Australia in the coming weeks.
