By shrinking a 1kWh battery into a form factor that is easier to carry, while keeping fast charging speeds and robust safety features, DJI has built an excellent option for campers, remote creators, and remote workers alike. If you need a highly portable, incredibly dense, and fast-charging power solution from a brand with a proven track record in battery tech, the Power 1000 Mini is a brilliant choice.
- RATING
The DJI brand can be found on a variety of products including drones, action cameras, gimbal cameras and microphones and now it can literally deliver the power with the DJI Power 1000 Mini.
Leveraging 15 years of battery research and development, DJI is pitching this as the most portable 1kWh power station on the market.
It has a 1000Wh capacity and is smaller than other similar units making it ideal to add to your home or car.
It is 31.4cm long, 21.2cm high and 21.6cm wide so it has a remarkably small footprint.
For a 1kWh LiFePO4 (LFP) power station, keeping the weight down to 11.5kg is an impressive engineering feat.
It fits easily into a car book or neatly on a desktop and won’t break your back during the hike from the car to the campsite.
The Power 1000 Mini offers 1000W continuous output (with the ability to surge and power certain 1200W appliances).
While it lacks the massive overhead of its larger siblings, the port selection handles everyday tech and light appliances with ease.
The onboard LFP battery supports up to 10 years of regular daily use.
It has intelligent BMS and temperature sensors to provide safe operation while sub-nano coating and potting offer protection against any condensation.
The DJI Power 1000 Mini has multiple ports to meet your needs and keep your devices and appliances charged.
One of our favourite features is the USB-C retractable cable with 100W output.
It comes out about a metre and is handy for those times where you don’t have the cable for your device but you need to power it up nonetheless.
And when you’re done it simply retracts back into place.
There are two AC Outlets, two USB-A Ports (12W), a USB-C port (100W) and an SDC Port which can also be used with an additional adaptor so it can offer DC 12V car charging as well. We assume unit just wasn’t big enough to have a DC charging port.
The DC charging comes in handy for us when we connect all our astrophotography equipment.
The SDC (Super-Fast Drone Charging) can also be used to rapidly recharge compatible DJI intelligent flight batteries for its drones.
DJI’s battery efficiency shines when you look at the real-world numbers.
Whether you’re a content creator in the field or trying to survive a blackout, the 1008Wh capacity goes a long way:
| Device | Estimated Runs / Recharges |
| Smartphone | 54 recharges |
| Digital Camera | 53 recharges |
| Nintendo Switch | 50 recharges |
| Laptop | 9 recharges |
| Gaming Desktop | 2 hours of runtime |
| Mini Fridge / Projector | 7 hours of runtime |
| Coffee Machine | 55 minutes of runtime |
A portable power station is only as good as how fast you can juice it back up. DJI offers three flexible charging methods: wall outlets (grid), solar panels, or your car’s 12V socket.
When plugged into a standard wall outlet, the speed is top tier is 0% to 80% in 58 minutes and 0% to 100% in 75 minutes
Being able to top off a 1kWh battery in just over an hour means you can easily prep for a weekend trip at the very last minute.
An underrated features of the Power 1000 Mini is its utility as an uninterruptible power supply (UPS).
This means if you have critical equipment—like a home server, NAS, or medical devices—you can pass grid power through the Mini.
Then in the event of a sudden blackout, the unit switches to battery power in less than 0.01 seconds (10ms). That is fast enough to prevent PCs from rebooting and keep your data safe.
There’s also a handy dimmable LED light on the front of the battery.
DJI didn’t compromise on safety to achieve the Mini’s compact size.
The unit is constructed from flame-retardant materials and features a rugged structural design capable of withstanding up to one ton of pressure.
Inside, the LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) cells are incredibly stable—even passing strict nail-penetration testing without catching fire.
If you’re tossing this in the back of a rugged overlanding rig, you won’t have to worry about it taking a beating.
Priced at $799, the DJI Power 1000 Mini sits in a highly competitive price bracket but DJI brings serious value to the table..
