Amazon has announced the relaunch of its Career Choice program in Australia to give employees the opportunity to upskill to join some of the country’s fastest growing areas ranging from health and safety to telecommunications and software development.
Amazon made the announcement at its Delivering the Future event in London.
Career Choice was created to provide eligible employees new skills and tools for success regardless of where they plan to work in the future.
It will empower employees to learn a new skill set whether they continue their career at Amazon or elsewhere.
And the program also helps by prepaying tuition and reimbursing eligible fees to provide access to education and training opportunities that were previously unattainable.
Career Choice will prepay up to 100 per cent of tuition fees and associated costs for nationally recognised courses up to $8,000 per year, every year.
Career Choice is part of Amazon’s Future Ready 2030 fund – a $2.5bn global pledge to help at least 50 million people prepare for the future of work before the end of the decade
$1bn of that commitment has been set aside for Career Choice which will be available in Australia, Canada, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States.
For Australia the new programs will focus on high-growth areas with all qualifications being externally recognised and each program design to lead to real further employment opportunities.
In Australia, Career Choice is available to eligible full time, flex time, part time or reduced time staff after one year of continuous employment.
All coursework is completed in their own time outside of their regular working hours so they can learn at a pace that suits their lifestyle.
