Apple has unveiled its latest MacBook Pro which for the first time includes a touchscreen PROLED XDR Display and M5 Pro and M5 Max performance to transform professional workflows.
Available in 14-inch and 16-inch, the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR display has up to 2,000 nits peak HDR and STR brightness with a stunning 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio.
The screen has a 120 Hz variable refresh rate and a wide colour gamut covering both P3 and Adobe RGB.
And now with touch capabilities, users can open a new dimension to their workflow and interact with their content.
Apple has also brought back the glowing Apple logo on the lid of the MacBook Pro.
Apple has also brought the Dynamic Island from the iPhone to the Mac to serve as the source for Spotlight, Live Activities, and Siri AI.
And it also includes the M5 Pro and M5 Max, which are Apple’s most powerful chips ever built for a pro laptop.
The new MacBook Pros also have up to 128 GB of unified memory and now up to 16 TB of SSD (solid-state drive) storage.
“The new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display is a monumental step forward for the Mac,” said Johny Srouji, Apple’s chief hardware officer.
“PROLED XDR is the world’s best laptop display. It pairs state-of-the-art tandem OLED technology with advanced algorithms in our display engine to deliver the kind of visual fidelity pros have been dreaming of.
“And with the magic of Touch coming to MacBook Pro, combined with the game-changing performance of M5 Pro and M5 Max, we’ve created a whole new way for pros to interact with their content, taking their workflows to a completely new level.
“The new MacBook Pro is the result of the deep integration between Apple silicon, hardware, and software, and there’s simply nothing else like it.”
The new MacBook Pro introduces the PROLED XDR display, which uses tandem OLED technology to make the screen super responsive and offering true and accurate colour.
Apple says it will offer a new level of visual acuity and precision for content creators, photographers, and designers who need a reference-calibre display to use on the move.
Also on board is an advanced display engine to control the colour and luminance of every pixel at the sub-millisecond level.
This looks after content, pixel use, temperature, and environment at the same time to offer uniformity in brightness and grayscale accuracy.
And the onboard Pro Motion technology can adapt the refresh rate to as low as 10Hz for better power efficiency and up to 120Hz for fluid responsiveness.
MacBook Pro users can now interact with their content like never before with Touch.
Apple has refined the experience to keep tasks simple and intuitive whether it’s scrolling through a web page, pinching to zoom on a photo, or dragging and dropping content from one application to another.
The touch sensor is built directly into the panel rather than being layered on top of it to reduce latency.
These new capabilities mean you can now use the entire screen as your canvas, rather than being limited by the area of the trackpad.
The MacBook Pro even has a newly designed hinge to offer greater stability when you’re reaching out to touch the screen along with advanced video stabilisation to take the shakes out of the camera while using touch during a video call.
The Dynamic Island has come to the Mac for the first time and where you will be able to access Spotlight, Live Activities, and Siri AI.
As it does on the iPhone, the Dynamic Island is a quick way to see and interact with important information.
The new MacBook Pro is also thinner and lighter to make it even more portable.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro now weighs 1.36 kg and the 16-inch tips the scales at 1.81kg – that’s 0.32kg less than the previous models.
The 16-inch models are 1mm thinner while the 14-inch is 0.5mm thinner and they have slimmer bezels so the 16-inch display becomes 16.3-inch while the 14-inch is 14.2-inch.
