Modern technology gives us many things.

Alcatel OneTouch unveils new range of smartphones and tablets

alcatelonetouch2Alcatel One Touch has unveiled its upcoming 2014 product range of smartphones and tablets that promises to offer high quality and value.

These include the eight-core Idol X+ and Pop C9 smartphones and the Pop 7 and Pop 8 tablets.

Tech Guide had a chance to go hands on with these devices at the International Consumer Electronics Show last month and we were impressed by the build quality and impressive features.

The Idol X+ builds on the success of the Idol range and features a 5-inch full high definition display with 441ppi (pixels per inch).

Also on board the Android-powered device is a 13.1-megapixel 1080p camera and it’s all housed in a chassis that’s just 7.9mm thick.

But it’s under the hood where you’ll find the most impressive feature – an eight-core 2Ghz processor that will ensure speedy and smooth operation, immersive gaming and 3D graphics.

And this faster processor can actually improve battery efficiency. In fact the eight core processor reduced power consumption by 18 per cent when compared to a quad core processor.

The octo processor also offers faster and smoother web browsing by assigning each tab on your browser to one of the eight processors on the chip.

And on the outside the Idol X+ also offers a stylish design with a brushed metallic frame and a thin 2.4mm bezel so the display goes edge to edge.

The device also offers a stereo audio output with specially-designed side speakers which support 24-bit/192Khz playback which is actually four times better than CD quality.

And how much would you expect to pay for a product that could realistically challenge the high-end Samsung, Sony, LG and HTC Android?

It is expected to be priced at less than $350 when it is released in the coming months.

Big screens are in and the Alcatel OneTouch Pop C9 certainly delivers with a 5.5-inch bright qHD IPS (in-plane switching) display.

The device is powered by a quad core 1.3Ghz processor and has an 8-megapixel camera that can shoot full HD video along with a front-facing 2-megapixel camera.

This front camera has an “auto beauty” feature to ensure your selfies looks great before you share them.

It’s also available in a number of colours including bluish black, cherry red, full white, hot pink and fresh turquoise.

Alcatel OneTouch has taken the fun and feel of the Pop smartphone range and brought it to the company’s new range of Android tablets.

The Pop 7 has a 7-inch TFT WSVGA screen and is powered by a 1.3Ghz dual core processor with a 2-megapixel camera front and back.
