The Arlo Wired Floodlight Camera is an excellent way to monitor your home, improve your home security and give users peace of mind. If you already have Arlo cameras, adding the Arlo Wired Floodlight Camera is a smart move to increase your level of security.
Arlo already has an impressive range of security cameras and it rounded out the range with the Wired Floodlight Camera that offers uninterrupted protection and high visibility so it can stand guard day and night in your home.
As its name suggests, the Arlo Wired Floodlight Camera is connected directly to your power and needs professional installation by a licensed electrician.
For this review, we had two installed – one near our front door and one on the side of our home.
They are priced at $249 and available in black or white.
We chose white to match our front porch and the other cameras and decided on black for the side of the house.
A floodlight is a popular security product which can turn on as soon as it detects motion.
In the case of the Arlo Wired Floodlight Camera it can do precisely that but also capture video of any movement as well.
The fact it is powered means the camera will operate 24/7 to provide uninterrupted security in your home.
Arlo’s other battery-powered cameras can be paired with solar panels to ensure they also operate 24/7.
But in the case of the Arlo Wired Floodlight Camera, having constant power means the floodlight can operate at its full strength without relying on having adequate battery power onboard.
The device, once installed by an electrician, is easy to connect to your home’s wi-fi and monitored through the Arlo companion app.
The unit is designed to allow users to aim the two lights and camera in any direction.
In our case we installed the front floodlight camera on the ceiling of our porch and we were able to use the included mounting accessories to achieve this.
For the side camera, we were able to mount it directly to the wall.
But in each case, we had the choice of directing the light where we wanted it and aiming the camera to give us the maximum benefit of the 160° field of view.
And, naturally, the unit is designed to withstand the weather – the heat, the cold, the rain or the sun – so you can have confidence placing the unit anywhere.
The video that’s captured through the cameras offers clear 2K resolution which provides enough detail to recognise important things like car number plates, packages, animals and people’s faces.

Arlo captures four seconds of video prior to every motion triggered recording so you’re not missing a thing.
And thanks to the excellent lighting, it also works brilliantly at night.
Speaking of the floodlight, it does offer up to 2000 lumens of brightness which is enough to shoot a Hollywood movie in front of it.
The brightness is adjustable within the app as is the sensitivity that triggers the floodlight.

Where it is positioned at our place it is highly visible and lights up a wide area.
The front wired floodlight camera illuminates my entire driveway all the way to the footpath so you can’t miss it.
The side wired floodlight camera lights up the bottom of the driveway when I get in my car and our side deck.
On the audio side, it is easy to hear and speak to anyone through the camera thanks to the clear two way audio which also adds noise cancellation to make it sound even clearer.
We were able to speak clearly to anyone near the camera as clearly as making a phone call.
There is also an onboard siren which can be triggered automatically or manually from the Arlo app to scare off anyone who may be on your property.
The siren isn’t deafening but is loud enough to scare an intruder.
And the Arlo wired floodlight camera also connects to popular third party smart home platforms including Alexa and Google so you can have easier interaction and automation.
At the time of writing there was no Apple Homekit support.
With an Arlo Secure Plus subscription, customers can unlock a host of other features including advanced object detection so it can recognise packages, animals, known people and known vehicles.
Arlo’s plans start at less than $7 a month for a single camera and $15 a month for unlimited cameras.
The Arlo AI used with its secure plans can be trained to create personalised, custom detections.
This means you can train the camera to recognise certain objects or changes within its view.
For example, you could train it to send you a notification if the lid on your garbage bin is off or if you have left the gate open.
The Arlo Wired Floodlight Camera is available now – it is priced at $249 and available in two colourways – white or black.
VERDICT
