Alcatel OneTouch is about to enter the smartwatch market with an affordable device that will work with both iOS and Android smartphones.
The tablet and smartphone manufacturer unveiled the imaginatively named Watch at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
It has a circular 1.22-inch touchscreen and runs its own operating system to make it possible to pair it with an iPhone or Android device.
Alcatel OneTouch is aiming to replicate with Watch what it has done for its tablets and smartphones – offer high quality at an affordable price.
Watch has a premium and classic design and looks like a regular watch with a choice of colours and styles.
It has a built-in heart rate monitor and built in apps to monitor your daily activity.
And when connected to your smartphone it will also relay notifications and messages to Watch.
User can scroll through a series of screens and icons to access the various features of the watch.
With Android devices it is also possible to use the Alcatel OneTouch Watch to activate the smartphone’s camera shutter to open up your photography options.
And when you need to charge the battery there is no connect it to a separate charging plate. It has a built-in USB charger in the Watch band.
The Alcatel OneTouch Watch will go on sale in the coming months and will be priced at less than $US150 which means it will likely be under $200 in Australia.
