WD’s My Passport Pro the first powered dual Thunderbolt portable drive
WD has introduced the My Passport Pro – the world’s first Thunderbolt powered portable dual drive for Mac users who want fast and reliable access to their files.
WD’s My Passport Pro can read and write the data at high speed thanks to its Thunderbolt connection.
But because there are two discs on board you can actually set it up as a RAID (redundant array of independent discs) so that one disc can be your back up and the second disc is the back up of your back up.
My Passport Pro is available in two capacities – 2TB and 4TB – and draws its power from the integrated Thunderbolt cable so there’s no need to carry around extra plugs or cables to power it.
The device can clock up transfer speeds of up to 233MB/s which means you can transfer on and off your Mac a full high definition movies, an entire music collection and all of your photos in a matter of seconds.
The two 2.5-inch drives are housed in a sturdy but stylish aluminium enclosure that has been shock tested for added durability.
The WD My Passport Pro is available now and is priced at $499.99 (2TB) and $649.99 (4TB).
