Netgear has just announced its next generation router – the R6300 – which boasts the latest 802.11ac wi-fi standard that’s up to three times faster than the current 802.11n.
The Netgear R6300 Wi-Fi Router is the world’s first 802.11ac dual band gigabit device and will enable even faster speeds in the home to allow sharing of rich content without a cable.
With devices like smartphones and tablets becoming even more popular in our homes, the new Netgear device will allow these products to access the internet and content wirelessly faster than ever.
802.11ac achieves these faster speeds – up to 1.3Mbps – using Beam Forming technology which creates a direct “line of sight” connection with the wireless devices in your home or office.
It also increases the coverage area for things like streaming HD movies. With the added speed of 802.11ac this would be a much faster and smoother experience.
Other features of Netgear’s R6300 will include:
Netgear Genie: A free app for PC, Mac, smartphones and tablets that can help users manage their wireless network. Customers can download the app from www.netgear.com/genie.
MediaServer DLNA: The R6300 is DLNA (digital living network alliance) ready to make it easy to stream content to any DLNA compatible including smart TVs, Blu-ray players, PCs, gaming consoles, smartphones and tablets.
Automatic Wi-FI security: The R6300 comes with security right out of the box with a pre-configured network name and password.
Two USB ports: The R6300 also has two USB ports to connect devices like printers and external hard drives and make them available to access on the network.
The Netgear R6300 Dual Band 802.11ac Wi-Fi Router will be available in stores later this month.
Tech Guide will post a complete review of the device in the coming weeks.
