The new Elgato Thunderbolt Dock is an easy way to connect your MacBook or ultrabook to all of your displays, drives and devices with just one cable.
The Elgato device is your gateway to connectivity and can be used to link to an external monitor, external hard drives, external keyboard, a printer, an external DVD drive and even your internet connection.
And all you have to connect to your laptop is a single Thunderbolt cable.
This is an ideal solution for laptop owners who use their computer on the move and return to their desk and connect it to all of their devices and peripherals and external monitor.
Usually you would have to connect all of these different cables one by one which would often discourage many users from taking their laptop out of the house.
The Elgato Thunderbolt Dock is 17.8cm long, 8cm wide and 2.5cm thick so it doesn’t take up much desk space.
The product has two Thunderbolt ports, three USB 3.0 ports, one Gigabit Ethernet port along with a HDMI dock, microphone input and headphone for a comprehensive connectivity solution.
When connected to the Elgato Thunderbolt Dock, your laptop can sit in a stand off to the side while powering your monitor, keyboard and other peripherals.
Mac users can even turn the device into a charging solution as well with the free Elgato Thunderbolt Dock utility so it can charge your smartphone or tablet.
And when it’s time to leave, instead of ejecting all of the connected drives, users simply click on the Elgato utility shortcut in the menu bar and disconnect one cable.
The Elgato Thunderbolt Dock is available now from Apple Stores and comes with a Thunderbolt cable for $359.95. There is a version without the cable for $329.95.
