Canon PIXMA MG6360 multifunction printer review
Canon’s new PIXMA MG6360 multifunction printer offers a high quality solution for printing, scanning and copying at an affordable price.
Thanks to the improvements in technology you get a lot of bang for your buck when buying a printer.
The PIXMA MG6360, priced at $199, certainly delivers in the value department but also has a host of features that make it fit into the modern household or office.
Design-wise the Canon PIXMA MG6360 inkjet printer is 46.6cm wide, 36.9cm long and 14.8cm high so it has a decent footprint.
The device has a 3.5cm colour touchscreen that is the main control panel for the whole printer.
On either side are a few touch keys that only illuminate when they’re needed and this gives the device a sleek, minimal look.
It includes wireless connectivity so numerous computers on the same network can share it.
In fact, it doesn’t even come with a USB cable in the box but there is a USB connection port on the back but you’ll need to supply your own cable to make the connection.
There’s also an Ethernet port on the back to give users the choice of connecting the MG6360 to their router with a cable if they don’t want to rely purely on a wireless connection.
And being wireless means users can print from tablets and smartphones using the Canon EPP app.
The MG6360 is also Apple AirPrint compatible so you can print directly from an iPhone or iPad.
Also on board is a memory card reader so you can print photos from your camera’s memory card.
Users can scroll through the images on the card using the 3.5-inch display and even do some minor editing before printing.
As a printer the MG6360 can produce high quality documents using 1 picolitre FINE print head technology ay 9600 x 2400 dpi (dots per inch).
It can pump out 15 pages a minute in black and white and 10 pages per minute in colour.
Photo printing is excellent especially on glossy photo paper and it only takes 21 second to produce a high quality image.
The Canon MG6360 is not the quietest printer we’ve ever heard. The warm up is a little noisy and the actual printing is not much quieter.
The paper tray also opens automatically with a snap which also adds to the noise factor. That aside the MG6360 certainly produces impressive results.
There are six individual ink tanks using ChromaLife ink that prints images that will last 100 years without fading.
It can also manage double sided printing and also has two tray – one for paper and another for different sized photo prints and even for printing a label on a CD or DVD.
Also included is PIXMA Cloud Link which means users can print to the MG6360 from anywhere using Google Cloud Print.
As a copier the MG6360 can make accurate copies with Dual Colour Gamut Processing Technology.
It can also work as a standalone copier without the need to turn on your computer.
Simply open the scanner lid, place your document, choose colour or black and white and hit start and within 14 seconds you’ll see the copy appear in the paper tray.
As a scanner the PIXMA MG6360 can scan photo and documents up to 2400 x 4800 dpi and send them to a connected PC, save it to a memory card and even email it right from the printer.
Also included with the device is a range of software including My Image Garden to organise your images on your computer, Print Your Days to create prints in different layouts from your Facebook photos, Easy WebPrint EX to clip parts of websites to print and Full HD Movie Print to produce high quality images from high definition movies.
There’s also Fun Filter Effects to apply a range of filters to your images and Auto Photo Fix II to make red-eye removal from your photos easier than ever.
The Canon PIXMA MG6360 is an excellent all-in-one printer that can produce impressive results.
