Pure Contour 200i Air review
Pure has introduced the Contour 200i Air – an impressive wireless audio system which can stream your music using Apple’s AirPlay from a PC, Mac, iPod, iPhone and iPad.
There’s also a dock to connect and charge the iPod, iPhone and iPad as well as playback your music.
Pure’s Contour 200i Air has impressive design with an arc shaped speaker sitting above the dock which is large enough to fit all of Apple’s compatible products including the iPad.
Sound quality through the 36W RMS speakers is outstanding and can easily fill a room and power your next party.
This is thanks to the onboard DSP corrected high-efficiency amplifiers and custom designed 3.5-inch dual full-range speaker drive units.
And even when played at the highest volumes, there was only slight distortion.
The Contour is also a DAB+ digital radio and can provide crystal clear reception from your favourite station and, because it is also a connected device with Ethernet and wi-fi, it can also access to thousands of internet radio stations.
The Contour 200i Air also works well with the free Pure Lounge app which allows listeners to access on demand content like podcasts and listen-again programmes.
Users can also connect their smartphones and other media players to the Contour 200i Air using the auxiliary input.
Setting up the Contour 200i Air for AirPlay is a breeze. Simply dock the iOS device – iPod, iPhone or iPad – which is already connected to the wi-fi network and press the wi-fi set-up button on the device.
Then it’s simply a matter of accepting the “share wi-fi settings” and you’re ready to go.
The AirPlay functionality makes it a lot easier to control and navigate your music from the device.
But even with the device is docked there is a credit-card sized remote to control playback.
The Pure Contour 200i Air is available now and is priced at $399.99.
