JBL NFC speakers can connect to your device with one touch
Audio company JBL has teamed up with Nokia to create portable wireless speakers that offer cable-free connection and excellent sound.
NFC (near field communication) is built into the speakers which means one touch of the Nokia Lumia smartphones and other compatible devices on the top of the JBL speakers instantly pairs the device using Bluetooth.
Once connected users can stream music from a range of 10m from the speaker.
There are two JBL speakers in the range – the PlayUp and the PowerUp.
JBL PlayUP – $199.95
These small portable speakers can go with you anywhere and play for up to 10 hours on a single charge of the battery.
It has a rubberised surface to make them easy to grip and carry anywhere.
The JBL PlayUp speakers offer impressive 360 degree room-filling sound which includes decent bass achieved through a specially designed port.
The speakers are also available in a number of colours – not surprisingly to match the various colours of the Nokia Lumia range.
It will work with NFC enabled phones including the Lumia 520, Lumia 620, Lumia 720 and Lumia 920.
One downside though – you can’t use the JBL PlayUp speakers as a speakerphone if you receive a call like you can with other similarly-priced devices.
JBL PowerUp – $349.95
The larger JBL PowerUp speakers offers a bigger sound but can also charge Nokia’s Lumia smartphones simply by resting it on top of the speakers.
There is still the same one-touch connectivity that NFC to stream your music wirelessly through the powerful 100W speaker.
The bass level will also get your attention and is pumped into the room through the two special rear ports.
The JBL PowerUp uses the QI NFC standard which means it can charge compatible devices on contact.
And if you own a Nokia Lumia 720, Lumia 820 or the Lumia 920 you can also charge your mobile by resting it in front of an indicator on top of the product which glows when it detects a phone nearby.
