Being able to hear your music in good quality wherever you go is possible with the new rugged and waterproof EFM Austin Bluetooth 25W speaker.
With an IPX7 rating there is no limit where you can take it.
The product gets its name from the Texas city known as the live music capital of the world and the speaker delivers with impressive and crisp audio and a nice level of bass.
The cylindrical Austin speaker has a fabric covering over the speaker grills and hard plastic caps which will protect the device if it’s accidentally dropped.
On the back is a flat panel where the controls are located. Here you can turn it on and off and put it into pairing mode and also link it to another EFM speaker in the Austin range using TWS (True Wireless Stereo) technology.
The build quality is evident as soon as you hold it in your hard and there’s a nice weight to it.
Pairing the speaker to your mobile device with the onboard Bluetooth 5.0 takes seconds and you’ll be hearing your music in no time.
The 25W drivers and subwoofer provide nice crisp sound that can be played pretty loud. Even at those high volumes there was very little distortion which is quite impressive for a speaker of this size and price.
The rich sound is also complemented by bold bass that’s not over the top so whatever type of music you listen to will sound great.
And it sounds good no matter how you place it whether its placed on its side or on its end.
But the speaker doesn’t just sound good – they also look good as well thanks to the glowing LED end caps which not only vibrate dynamically while you’re listening to your music but they also change colour as well.
Truly mesmerising.
And if you get a call, the speaker is also a handsfree unit thanks to the built-in microphone.
On the battery side, the EFM Austin can run up for up to eight hours on a single charge.
The speaker can be charged through the USB-C port under removable rubber panel. The panel was quite hard to remove – we had to get a pen and dig it in to get enough of a grip to pull it out to and access the port.
What we didn’t find under here was a USB port that could charge your smartphone – that would have been a nice addition.
